16: Late Again

It's more than a blog title. Being late seems to be my personal calling card lately. Staying up late, sleeping late, running late. I need to keep putting forth some effort these last few days of school but it is more difficult than I thought!

So thank you, caffeine, for supporting me in this endeavor.

15: Testing 1 2 3

I am trying out my very first blog post via my iPhone. Is there anything this phone can't do? I feel like I'm riding the wave of the future here! So I wanted to share one of the unpleasant side effects of the future. Cord hell.

CAMERA FAIL - I HAZ IT!

Somehow I have misplaced my camera charger and have not been able to update in the last two days. I need to launch another search at school, and with luck I will post three pictures tomorrow to make up for this tragic situation. Otherwise, I will have to put my life back out of focus until I can get a new camera. Pray to Oprah that I find the charger tomorrow!

14: Alphabet Distraction

This is my very first teacher poster! My cooperating teacher, Kelly gave it to me when we were setting up the classroom. I've spent a lot of time staring at it today while trying to think. My portfolio is nearly complete and I feel physically, emotionally and intellectually drained. I can hardly think straight, and I'm just tripping all over myself to be finished with my student teaching experience.

I will receive my student teaching grade on Tuesday, and I think at that point I will finally feel the weight lifted. I can't wait for it to be over. And yes ... then I will FINALLY be able to be proud that I've earned my Master's Degree.

13: Celebrating 6 Months

A place where I spend a lot of my time, The Cullens Online, is celebrating it's 6 Month Anniversary today. For everyone who has been involved with this website - you rock. This is such a fun place for Twilight fans to hang out and interact with the characters. Here's to another 6 months!

12: Strange Cat

Perhaps I should have entitled this post "strange husband." I wish I had some interesting back story, but to be honest I just found this picture on my camera today and thought I should share.

11: It's Thanksgiving Time!

Here's a mid-meal snapshot of our Thanksgiving dinner. Please note the classy salt shaker and the bottle of Wild Turkey on the table. Also, in case you are wondering, YES we are eating on my coffee table. My dining room table has been replaced by a desk.

Nonetheless, I am thankful for having this day with my sister and my husband. For having a whole heap of food on our little coffee table and for all the blessings we have in life. Turkey excluded ;)

10: FAIL!!!1

My sister is in town for Thanksgiving, and she brought all her laundry. Her place doesn't have a washer and dryer. She set to the washing right after she arrived, and had her sheets and bedspread waiting outside the laundry room. My dog, Peanut, thought it looked like the most comfortable bed that she had ever seen. She sat right down and commenced this nap, until I interrupted her with my camera to snap this shot.

There is nothing better than being with family during the holidays and sharing the little moments that make us all smile.

9: My Home Away from Home

Another set of conferences today, and I wanted to give you a little peek at the place where I spend all my time. Her's a view from the back of my classroom, complete with awesome colorful teacher wall-hanging stuff. My desk is off to the right, cut off from view - but that's where the magic happens my friends!

8: FAIL!

I missed my first photo of the day yesterday, but I have a mildly acceptable excuse. I spent the day in 12 hours of parent-teacher conferences, and I was out of words by the time I got home.

So only one day late, I have to share with you a diorama that one of my students made. I know you can't see it in this picture, but the tree lights up as well as a chandelier in the house. The tree also plays jingle bells. It has curtains and curtain rods, and every detail down to plants, light switches, and wreaths on the doors. Adorable!

7: Heart of Glass

Yes, it's a bowl of glass.

My husband bought new lightbulbs and the wattage was too high for the light fixture in the dining room. It overheated and burst.

Instead of throwing the glass away, my husband thought it would be a good idea to preserve the glass in one of my mixing bowls. Thanks dear, now we need a new light fixture and a new mixing bowl.

Truth is stranger than fiction. I swear it.

6: A Perfect Day

What an amazing weekend. From a long-anticipated movie release to an international get together of epic proportions, it was certainly a weekend to remember.

It culminated watching the sunset with four amazing women, a slice of Oreo cheesecake and a pocketful of sand.

5: Feast!

A Thanksgiving Day Feast for my fourth graders. The boy in the middle ate so much food that he made himself sick. Many of these kids are from very poor families and in their eyes, this feast was made for a king. Many paper plates of turkey, potatoes and Spanish rice later and everyone was ready for some Charlie Brown :)

4: Things I'm Thankful For

I'm thankful for wonderful students like this one, who make each and every day worth all the work and effort. They teach me far more than I can teach them. I am thankful!

3: A Vicarious Life

One of my students just spent three weeks in Thailand, and all I got was this lousy elephant!

Okay, so the elephant is not lousy. In fact, it's adorable. There it sits on my desk to remind me of the fabulous life that this 9-year-old is leading while I grade science tests.

2: What Happens at 2:45

I am still knee-deep in my student teaching, but I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Even so, at the beginning of every day my desk is immaculate and by the end of the day. Well ...

I hope this is what happens when lots of learning is going on.

1: To Have Magic

Student Teaching Day 78

The assignment was to write down their greatest wish. Some wanted money, some wanted fame, some wanted power. But one little girl just wanted magic ...
