This is the point in the pregnancy where I think you feel every moment of the wait. The baby's head is down and I certainly feel all 4ish or 5ish of his pounds. It's been very comforting to get into the pool and relieve some of the pressure on my legs, groin, hips, and back. Between that and sleeping I still manage to be comfortable for several hours each day. I can't look at food without putting on weight anymore, but I'll chalk it up to baby - he's supposed to be gaining about 1/2 a pound each week now. His feet have settled firmly in my ribcage and his head mercilessly on my bladder. I have only 5 weeks of work left until my maternity leave starts and I'm very excited for that. The pregnancy itself is not so bad, it's the pregnancy plus having to do anything besides lie in bed/swim in the pool that causes some discomfort. People are very sympathetic at this point :) everyone wants to know how I feel and hopes that the baby will be on the early side. There is a full moon on July 26th and I'm sincerely hoping that it ushers in our little one two weeks early. Here's hoping!!

30 Weeks Down - 10 To Go!
It's a self-portrait this 30th week, as my photographer has gone to Chicago for the month - leaving me to struggle in basement lighting so I can stand in front of the only full-length mirror in the house. I can't imagine how I will get two months more growth into that belly, but that's the plan :)
Jack seems to be made of all elbows and knees these days, and he is using those poke-y parts to explore every inch of my abdomen. It can be uncomfortable at times, but it still makes me smile and wonder what he is up to in there. I foresee a future as a talented water polo player - just like his daddy.
June will be a busy month for out little family, we have three birthdays, an anniversary, a baby shower, father's day, a triathlon, and we'll end the month with a vacation, if baby is in agreement. My third trimester has been unexpectedly pleasant so far, no doubt with the help of yoga to keep my back pain down, and a recent weight plateau has kept my knees from wanting to buckle. If only I could keep the swelling in my feet down, I might venture to say that I was comfortable!
I hope to be back on Saturday to post 3D ultrasound pictures - so check back to see Jack for yourself :)

26 Weeks Exactly
Here I am 26 weeks in! Welcome to the world of swollen feet and weight gain. Baby Jack kicks regularly every day and he doesn't take very kindly to anyone messing in "his space." Lean over too far and he *will* kick back. The third trimester starts in just two weeks and in just about three months we will meet him. Can you imagine how huge I will be at that point? Dr. Scholl's help me.

Week 23.5
.jpg)
At one time I can't believe it's been a whole 23 weeks, and on the other hand I can't believe it's been only 23 weeks. WIth luck, in fewer than four months I will be meeting my son. I can feel him moving every day now, which is a pretty amazing thing. It certainly makes business meetings more interesting when someone is using your bladder as a punching bag.
We've chosen the name Jack Alan for him and when I'm not working or cooking, I'm most likely researching the safest crib mattress pad or choosing brackets for the shelves in his nursery. He's all consuming and he hasn't even been born yet :)
My stomach feels like it may not be able to stretch anymore, but every mother I know ensures me that it will find a way. Here it is in all it's glory, my 23 week and 4 day belly. (No, I didn't comb my hair - it's Sunday. And Joel insisted that I smile "with my eyes" hence the goofy grin.) Jack is 1.5 lbs and from crown to rump he's about the length of an ear of corn. Keep growing baby!

Week 19!
As of today I'm 19 weeks along and really excited about the approaching halfway point! Next week is our ultrasound and we get to find out who that IS in there ... our daughter or our son. I'll make sure to post the big news, after alerting the appropriate family units of course :)

If I'm only halfway through, does that mean I will get twice as big? ... I hope not ...

Disclaimer - I was way too tired to do my hair this morning at all. Yeah, it air dried. Sorry future generations, but this is all you get today!
